How do you clean carpets?

There are four elements required to clean carpets.

The first is a Chemical to unbind the soil from the carbet fibre. Rather than a 1-size-fits-all, this should be carefully considered based on the type of stain. Solvents should be used for oil-based stains like grease, and alkaline detergents used for water-based stains like coffee and wine.

Next, one should apply Heat and Agitation, which allows the chemical to seep deep into the carpet pile and generate the energy needed for the soil particles to unbind from the carpet fibre.

The next phase is Extraction, with the objective of providing sufficient, but not excessive pressure and suction to remove the soil from the carpet. This is where we use the Extraction Machines that are commonly pictured online.

Often, cleaning the carpets will involve applying a highly alkaline solution as the chemical, in which case that we should apply a neutralising rinse upon completion. This will prevent any carpet damage and enable successful cleaning next time.

How can I protect my carpets after?

We encourage all customers to protect their carpets after having them newly installed or cleaned.

By applying a protection formula we are able to considerably increase carpet and fabric resistance to soil and stains.

Not only will this lengthen the time needed before having to have your carpet professionally cleaned, but also make it significantly easier to remove any type of stain caused by a spill, such as red wine or coffee.

WARNING: Any protection formula applied should be carefully selected based on the carpet fabric to avoid any carpet damage.

Are you able to remove red wine and coffee stains?

Although we are generally successful at removing these type of tough stains, there are a multitude of factors that can effect success.

They include the amount of time passed from when the spill occurred, whether any over-the-counter (OTC) detergents have been used, the type of carpet fibre, the construction of the carpet, the presence of any backing, when it was previously cleaned as well as a variety of other factors.

What cleaning methods do you use?

We use Hot Water Extraction, otherwise known as Steam Cleaning, to clean carpets. Once your carpet technician arrives, they will assess the best course of treatment, depending on the type of fabric type and the marks/spillage. They will proceed to apply the appropriatecarpet pre-treatment, steam clean the carpet using Hot Water Extraction techniques and finally, if necessary, apply an post treatment solution.

Do you require parking?

Yes! Our Carpet Cleaning Equipment is heavy and therefore we require parking for our vehicle at or close to the property. If you need to apply for a permit, we can provide our vehicle registration number when we process your booking.

How does payment work?

For payment, we accept cash, bank transfer and card. Upon making the booking, we take an initial deposit. The outstanding balance is then due directly to the cleaning team upon completion of the booking.

Do you offer any sort of guarantee?

Unfortunately, we are unable to guarantee that every stain will be successfully removed during the carpet cleaning process. That being said, we have an overwhelmingly positive success rate as exemplified by our reviews.

There is no lift up to my property, is this a problem?

If your property isn’t on a ground floor and there is not lift, let us know when you make your enquiry. We might be able to send additional cleaners to help carry the equipment, or we may be able to perform the clean with a smaller, lighter carpet cleaning machine then usual. However, this might effect the effectiveness of the treatment which is why it is essential to let us know beforehand.

What shall I do if I've spilt something on my carpet?

If you’ve just spilt or dropped a substance that can stain your carpet we recommend that you blot away any excess liquid and immediately call Scrubs Cleaning for further advice. Beware of using Over The Counter (OTC) detergents that can cause the spilt substance to lock in around the carpet fibre, making our extraction and stain removal methods less effectiive.

Are you able to remove every type of stain?

Unfortunately we are unable to guarantee that we will be successful in removing 100% of stains from a carpet. Factors such as the type of stain, the carpet fibre, the carpet construction, the time since spillage and whether any over-the-counter (OTC) detergents have been used can all effect the efficacy of a carpet clean. That being said, in the vast majority of cases we are successful in removing stains as shown by our overwhelmingly positive Google Reviews.
